Charming 3-Bedroom Chalet in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland
Discover this delightful 3-bedroom chalet nestled in Lauterbrunnen, one of Switzerland’s most renowned and desirable villages. Known as the 'Valley of the Waterfalls,' Lauterbrunnen inspired J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy realm of “Middle-earth.” The very name ‘Lauter Brunnen’ translates to ‘many fountains,’ reflecting the breathtaking beauty of this landscape.
With 72 waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, the most famous is the Staubbach Falls, plunging nearly 300 meters from an overhanging rock face. It’s one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Europe. In 1779, esteemed poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited the valley and was inspired by its roaring waters to compose his renowned poem ‘Spirit Song over the Waters.’
Another awe-inspiring natural wonder is the Trümmelbach Falls, located within the ‘Black Monk’ mountain. This hidden gem boasts ten glacier waterfalls that cascade an impressive 20,000 liters of water per second from a height of approximately 200 meters. Access is available in the summer via a tunnel lift.
The chalet offers quick access to the expansive ski regions of Wengen-Kleine Scheidegg and Mürren-Schilthorn via mountain railway. The Jungfrau region features 45 transport facilities, 213 km of ski pistes, fun parks, 100 km of winter hiking trails, and 50 km of toboggan runs. Additionally, the Lauterbrunnen Valley is home to numerous cross-country ski trails.
As a central hub (at an elevation of 795 m) for some of the Jungfrau region’s best excursion destinations, Lauterbrunnen is well-connected by a rack railway to the sun-kissed terrace of Wengen and the Kleine Scheidegg station, where you can transfer for onward journeys to the Jungfraujoch. Across the valley lies the charming resort town of Mürren, accessible from Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg. A cableway from Stechelberg takes you to the Schilthorn peak at 2,971 m, famously known as the filming location for the 007 classic ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.’
This chalet is not just a home; it’s a gateway to adventure and the stunning natural beauty of the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
